What the hell Caps fans!
I had the pleasure of attending the Maple Leaf vs. Capitals this past Friday. The Caps played great. If you don't know, the score was 5-1. But my enjoyment ended there.
First, the place was half empty. Yes, the Caps have been putrid lately, but damn. Support your team.
Second, 75% of the fans that were there were Leafs fans. As one "gentleman" stated, "They are everywhere...Their pasty white skin...It's disgusting." He went on to say more, but that does not need to be repeated. Several Leafs fans attempted to start a fight with me while I was attempting to take a piss. The focus of their rage was my Hunter Jersey. Imagine that. You go to D.C. and see a Hunter jersey. How dare a Caps fan!
Third, most of the food stands were closed. Now I know this wasn't a sellout, but it is ridiculous for someone to walk halfway around the building, stand in line for 1/2 hour to get something to eat. One food stand per floor doesn't cut it. It is like the Verizon Center gave up on the fans.

My trip did yield some things to look forward to. Drinks is not longer there. It has been bought by Green Turtle and is being renovated. The Caps are starting to sell red, white, and blue merchandise again. Ovechkin T-shirts and things like that. No new logo yet.

In the end I was happy with the win. I was disappointed with my follows Caps fans and with the Verizon Center. The service the Verizon Center provided/did not provide could explain why most fans stayed home.

oh, how I'd love to see a new red, white and blue logo. As far as attendance goes- I attended a Fri night game earlier (when the caps were still competitive) against the defending champs and the place was half full. Such is life in DC-homers that will show if they are good, can't be bothered if there is no bandwagon to jump on.

I have seen the half full thing before too. I am a Caps fan. But this was very different.

leonsis has made his bed on this one. promises promises. while i will remain loyal can you blame people for jumping ship? this team has sucked for years. put an inferior product on the ice and this is what happens. i like to look at the upside. average age on this team is about 25. if these youngsters stick together, this team could be like edmonton back in the gretzky era....
